I have a baby RES and its shell is beautiful. I was just wondering if there is anything i can do to keep its shell this nice color as it gets older.

RES shells darken with age. There is nothing you can do to prevent it from darkening since this is their genetic structure. But as with humans, each turtle is an individual, so some shells may be darker than others upon reaching maturity.

I would simply focus on providing healthy living conditions and a healthy balanced diet. This will be a great preventative against shell diseases etc that could damage your turtles shell permanently. :)

some RES are lucky to keep their colors..there's this male at Turtle Love Ranch who is drop dead gorgeous, his shell looks like a baby's but he's an adult!

That would be cool to see! I read that it was a very, very rare trait for an adult to keep their coloring. I bet he is very interesting to see. :)
