Cleaned the tank last night. Snail and water problems.

I did a full clean of Veronica's 30 gallon last night. It took me all 12 tracks of Alanis Morissette's Acoustic album to get it done.

I treated the water (I use tap water) with the usual fish water treatment that I use to get rid of potentially harmful chemicals in the tap water. This morning I noticed that there was some white substance on the floor of the tank which I am guessing is the chemicals that just settled in powder form from the treatment.

Should I try and wipe those out? There's only a few spots of it but I'm guessing it would dissolve back into the water which would defeat the purpose of the whole water treating anyway.

Also. My snail, currently renamed Tally since she turned out to be female, is LAYING EGGS LIKE CRAZY. She's had to have laid hundreds of them by now. They're little black dots and there's so many that they couldn't be anything but eggs. I've watched her lay them. She lays them and then falls over on the side of her shell for a second and then she's back up and moving across the tank. A few hours later there's some more.

I currently have her in a couple inches of water in the ten gallon that I kept her and Veronica in while I was doing the cleaning. I left Tally in the ten gallon because I do not want those eggs in Veronica's tank anymore. What I'm wondering is how long this will go on. I don't think the eggs are fertilized because after a week or so they didn't expand or grow at all.

I want to put Tally back in the big tank but I'm going to wait until she's done...doing whatever it is she's doing.

I thought the same thing but Veronica has ignored them. And they've been cluttering the bottom of the tank making it look dirty. Veronica isn't that much of a bottom dweller anyway. Occasionally she'll go to the bottom and sit on her big shell but mostly she basks or swims in the waterfall...or lays in her soapdish.

Kind of off topic, but last night instead of using the ramp to her basking dock she just went to the other side and used her arms to crawl up on it. I was so proud of her and how strong she's getting. :)

12 tracks of alanis morissette? sure it's only 36-45 minutes or so, but it would feel like FORVER!!!!

Haha. I actually like the acoustic version of Jagged Little Pill. And I like her now that she's out of "I want to die and take every man down with me phase!". Although that phase was fun too.

It's probably sad that I timed my tank cleaning by CD but it gets so tedious and long sometimes and I try not to think about how long it takes.

Are they in with the turtles? If not, I'd just let them be, they should hatch on their own. If they're in the turtle tank, and are on plants or rocks, you could carefully take out whatever they're on and put the rocks/plants in a separate container of water.

Well I cleaned out the majority of them from Veronica's tank and then of course, the snail continued laying them in the ten gallon that I use while cleaning the 30 gallon. The snail right now, is in the ten gallon and she's still laying. I don't think they're fertilized...nothing happened to the other ones in a couple weeks time and these are growing or doing anything. I just plan to put the snail back in the thirty gallon when she gets done doing what she's doing.
