The last four of about 10 eggs laid by Snoopy since mid April. For about 21 days, she showed all the symptoms. Restlessness, agitation, desperately trying to get out and not eating. All that strange stuff stops and about 2 weeks later out come the eggs. Image,Image,Image,Image

Very cool! Great pics. How did you get her to lay? Did you take her outside? Did you have an area she could use to bury attached to the aquarium? Or, did she just lay in the water?

And how big is a RES that lays 10 eggs?

I ask because my son has a female that's not yet 4". I know I'll have to deal with this eventually, but hopefully it's years away.

Females must be 5" to to be gravid.

She's about 8". From time to time when she was her most restless, I would take her out and put her in a rubbermaid container with topsoil in it, this seemed to calm her down. She laid all her eggs in the water, but by that time she showed no more signs of distress.

Yes, this is her 1st, she laid 3 in late March, 3 early May and 4 June 27th. (I don't know if that is considered 1 clutch or 3) She is 8-9 years old. I guess the the eggs look so big because I used macro zoom for a good closeup. Image[/img]

The first time Mango laid eggs there were 11 and she was about 7". I have no idea how they could all fit in there! Then a week or so later, she had another batch. Good old Mango! Green is Mango's sister, and heaps bigger (G is now 9", and Mango is 8"), and seems not to have produced any eggs, ever.
