Type of lights

Hey im kinda new to this site and i am planning to get 2 RES but i am in the process of setting up its aquarium right now. I have seen many people with 2 light soucres outside the aquarium above the basking area

...what are the 2 lights for??? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Your turtles will need proper UVB lighting above their basking area. For most UVB sources, this does not include heat. So most people also have a regular household bulb aimed toward the basking area to provide the heat.
The water temp for hatchligs should be about 78F and 72-75F for older turtles. The basking area temp should be about 10 degrees higher. If your basking area doesn't have the heat, then your turtles won't be encouraged to bask. This can lead to a number of problems.

Yea this is a great site...im glad i found it...everyone seems so helpful..i have been on this site for the past 3 days reading everything about RES...i dont want em to die on me...and i'll try to get pics for you guys too!!!
