Hello Everyone !
I've had my 2 hatchlings for 3 weeks now and they never seem to bask :((((
I had one islandy-thing in the tank but added two more just to encourage them getting on there.
All three of the basking areas are at water-level, so it should'nt be too hard for them to get on there....
There are two things i thought of ...
1. maybe they only bask when i'm not around
2. maybe they don't get on there because i have a cat and the cat sometimes sits on the table standing in the living in front of the aquarium (like 1m away)....

Any ideas ?

You probably just don’t see them when they bask. My albino RES used to dive off her basking spot when she was just a hatchling, now she is 6 months old and doesn’t mind at all when I watch her bask. Also, what temp is the air in the basking spot?

Put a food pellet up there. If it disappears, at least you know they are going up.

Can you place a thermometer there to take the basking area temperature? Is there a UVB bulb for them?

Some turtles just take their sweet time before they bask. I also have to question if it can get up there easily ? My res hardly ever basks but my mississippi does all the time but not
