Basking at night
Hi!
I'm probably being an overly worried momma but I figured I would ask here anyway. I have a female res, approximately 30 years old. Tonight, for the first time that I can ever recall, she is sleeping on her basking rock instead of in the water. I'm just wondering if I should be worried considering this is unusual for her. She did not eat today but that's not necessarily unusual for her. There are days here and there where she doesn't eat. She did eat every other day this week. I feed her Omega One turtle food and sometimes give her a treat of canned tuna. I've tried giving her veggies but she always turns her nose up. She's in a big tank. I forget how many gallons but pretty large. I upgraded a couple of years ago. She has a heat lamp and a uva/uvb lamp. I use a filtration system and a water conditioner. Oh, and once in awhile I give her those turtle chaser treats. She likes the shrimp ones better than the clam ones. Visually she looks fine. Her activity level has been good this week though today she mostly just basked. She feels a little heavy to me so I wonder if she might have eggs. I didn't feel her to see because I didn't want to disturb her while she was basking.
Has anyone else's turtle ever done this? My girl usually sleeps in the water so I'm just concerned. I don't really know what to expect when her time comes and from what I understand she's up there in age.
Thanks in advance!
Oh, and to be clear, her lights are off for the night but she's still sitting there basking anyway.
