Please tell me if these would work for a RES. My mother seems to have changed her mind about returning her. But she is planning on buying a bigger "tank" to swim on.

I'd say go with the reptisun 10.0. But if you can I'd just buy a kiddie pool and let them wander around it to bask in na tural sunlight (supervise them of course) for an hour or two a day (if you can). That way they can get their shells really healthy during the summer and during winter you can just use the uvb light all the time. Of course they'd have to spend longer times using the uvb just to get the same results. If you have a baby turtle I'd say let them bask for atleast 3-4 hours a day since (not saying adults do not need it so don't take it like that) need more imho. Because they're recently born and they're growing as fast as they can.

In the end nothing beats natural sunlight.

A reptiglo or reptisun will work just fine. I would buy a 26 watt instead of the 13w. And don't forget a water heater and lightbulb for heat!

Thank you both, and I think I'm going to follow SneakySushie about the kidie pool ouside for sun. Kansasslider, I believe a Incandescent Light Bulb would be alright for heat temporarily, right? and I would like the approval on this water heater too, as I am not sure.

Yes, I only use incandescent light bulbs for heat but they are a little harder to find. Never heard of that heater brand. It only has 1 review so i would shy away from it.Look into Eheim Jager or Aqueon heaters. I own both.Your not heating a large volume of water so you could just get a 150 watt or so.
