Hello all.

Sheldon has been mopey since Saturday afternoon. She's still eating - though the lettuce is not going over, which usually indicates she's just not feeling her usual self, so that's good. She's basking, so also good. Just today I noticed she started blinking a lot. Should I be worried? She seemed to perk up a little bit tonight - we've been going through a nasty heat stretch and we're finally heading for a cool down.

She behaved similarly when we had a super cold snap this past winter and her water temp was a little low. Well the water is a little warmer than I'd like (I put the air conditioning on any lower and ice will start to form on my nose) but the basking temp is fine. Not sure if I need to go to the vet or not.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

It doesn't sound like anything is wrong, but it's hard to read symptoms. Maybe she needs a change in routine/food... I'd see what happens over the next few days.

I swapped out her bulb and she seemed to appreciate that as shot off of her basking platform this afternoon like a rocket which she hasn't done in a few days. I intend to clean the filter on Saturday so hopefully that helps too.

If all looks normal, I think the only real symptom I would be worried about is not going for pellets for a couple of days. The seasonal changes and reduced daylight does have a role and it is that time of year.

You are correct about that time of year. We've been a lot warmer than we should be for September but it looks like we're going into a regular weather pattern for the next 4 or 5 days. Sheldon does seem more perky today.

So far she's still eating pellets and I ordered her some more of a different variety that hasn't been available around here for a little bit so I think she'll appreciate it.
