Are any of your turtles more adventurous than the others. I can tell my two baby turtles apart easily when I hold them on just how they act (although I can tell them apart physically as well). One will very quickly pull out of its shell and start racing around. The other one takes much longer to get the nerve to explore. They both eat the same and bask/swim the same amount. It just seems that they have very different personalities.

My turts have different personalities too. It's funny because I didn't expect it, but I guess all living things do. I have a shy turtle and an out going turtle.

Do you think a more willful turtle and a more passive turtle would get along together in the long run? As compared to personality conflicts that would come from two willful ones?

They way they respond to you is no way an indication of they way they will act towards another turtle.

That's good to know...however, I figure one day they are still going to need to be seperated. I am such a pessimistic person.

Better prepared than not

I've been lucky with my male and female RES so far. My male RES does harass her, but she just pushes him away. Poor guy

Well, of the two, it's my male who is more shy. Maybe that will translate in to shyness with the ladies as well...who knows.

Whenever one of the turtles gets back out of the water to bask the other one does as well. Maybe it sees this as an opportunity to get closer to the lamp (stacking)? I dunno. Anyways, is this because they're babies or do they maybe need just a little interaction? For example, I know my cats were raised together as kittens and grown cats don't usually interact much at all. Still, while once in a while they will fight and some like certain ones better than others there are the occasional two that get along alright. This is the case with turtles as well, right?
