my tank water is too warm
Posted: Mon May 15, 2006 7:16 pmI turned off my water heaters and its still warm. I think its the summertime, but what should i do? should i resort to water coolers? or should i up the temperature on my basking area?

Posted: Mon May 15, 2006 7:32 pmWhen you say too warm, what temp are you talking about? This is a common problem when the weather gets warm. I've had some success in lowering the temp by putting frozen plastic water bottles in the water, but in really hot weather this solution is temporary (they have to periodically be replaced).
There is such a thing as too warm, so I wouldn't automatically raise the basking area temp. If/when it gets really warm, you will likely be able to do without a heat lamp and just use a UVB light (which doesn't give off heat). Just check the temp to make sure it's in a good range (88-90F).

Posted: Mon May 15, 2006 7:44 pmwell right now the water temperature is 81-83 area, this morning it was at 80 and i took my heater out and it went up, the room temperature around my tank is around 83 as well. I think this is warm, and we dont use the A/C.
Posted: Sun May 21, 2006 1:25 pmI turn the heater off when basking lamp is on, and turn it back on when I turn the lamp off, that keeps the temperature pretty stable.It's around 79-80 F
