Hello all. I am semi green turtle owner. I am slowly building a permanent habitat for my two RES. I temporarily got a plastic floating basking spot from petco for my transitional tank. Saving up for largest tank I can fit in my house without being slain by my wife. I noticed they can’t get on it. They climb and can’t manage to make it all the way on. Is this something they just need to get used to ? I am concerned they will become unhealthy due to not being able to bask. I lost the damned receipt so I can’t return it. Been trying various things to make it easier but nothing has worked yet. Anyone have any ideas ? Have you ran into this when getting local pet store basking spots ?

What does it look like? There are a handful of things to try, though most pre-made basking spots have some texture to it for traction.
