Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I have an adult male RES who has lived in a tank all his life. We are purchasing a home and setting up an outdoor habitat for him and would like to get him a friend who he will not kill or breed with. Are there similar species (yellow-bellies, etc) where a female could peacefully co-exist in a large outdoor pond area with him and not breed?

I don't think you will find one. RES aggression is not completely tied into reproduction and they can all be a bit territorial. With a similar breed of turtle, they might still mate but produce infertile eggs.
