Turtle in a pool

Ok I'm asking this before I do this because I want to make sure it's ok.

I was wondering if I could put my turtle outside in our swimming pool just for a bit when I'm out there. I figure he would have a blast swimming in this huge pool and I would be out there to watch him and make sure no one touched him or bothered him.

But I was just worried about the chlorine and stuff. That shouldn't really hurt him should it?

If it does then I'll just go get a water trough and fill it up instead of putting him in the big pool.

Let me know cause it's 90 outside and I want to take him out today to get some sun after I finish cleaning his tank! Thanks!

With all the chemicals used in pools I would think that would be a bad thing for the turtle.

I would think that they chlorine, etc. would at the very least irritate the eyes (dechlorinating tap water for the tank that's been treated is a good thing to do, so I'm not sure why you'd want to expose him to water that has an even higher concentration of the stuff...).

We don't have chlorine in our tap water here. It's well water. As for the pool I was just wondering because I have heard of people putting their turtles in pools to get rid of shell rot before so I didn't think it would hurt him. Plus I'd figure he'd have a blast in a 4,000 gallon pool!

But since it's bad I'll go find our dog's old stock tank that we used for a pool for her and clean it out and fill it up with water for him to play in next to us in the pool.

I'd also think the pool water would be too cold, though I may be wrong. Plus I don't know if you'd want to use it after Mikey takes a swim in there...

I don't have a problem taking a swim after he does. I do that all the time in the lake in another state that is full with turtles. But I set him up his own pool beside the pool. Now he has his own water he can play in that is heated by the sun (which it should be warm enough today, it's going to be 85 with high humidity. And he's got a shade spot and a basking spot I made for him so he can go out and play while I swim.
