Can Plastic Kill A Turtle?

My dad said if I put the fake lilly pad in the pond and she eats the plastic, it could get caught in her digestive system and she could die! I just put one in there to test it she is eating her lettuce right now.

Your turtle will probably bite at the plant but once she realizes it isn't food, she'll leave it alone. When I first got my turtle, he was constantly nipping at the plants - he never took a piece off, though. After a few hours, he realized it wasn't food and he leaves them alone.

When my turts tried to eat plastic leaves, their mouths just slid off them. With virtually no scent, they'll quickly know it's not food. Just don't use plastic plants that have really small pieces that could break off and accidently be ingested.

I cut off the small pieces and it is now just a big plastic leave.
