hello

today i am getting 2 small RES and i very excited! i have a very important question to ask u turtle experts. i already kno that the previous owner wasn't taking care of them very well....he had been leaving the lights on for them 24/7, which i now know is very hamfull to them. i need to know about the size of the tank... the one i am getting with them is 40x20x40... i am not sure if this tank will be big enough for both of them ?? i really need an answer to this.......

so far this site has been great help to me...a newbie

do you know the gallons your tank holds? They say 10 gallons per inch of turtle...so if you have 2-2inch turtles that is 4 inches of turtle so 40 gallons. or if you have a 2-3 inch turtle that would need a 20-30 gallon tank.

If your tank measurements are in inches, you have a 130gallon tank. If your measurements are in centimeters, you have an 8 gallon tank.

Like z-chic said, you should have at least 10 gallons per inch per turtle. If your turtles are small (1 to 2 inches each), a 30 gallon tank will be good for now but you will need to upgrade soon. Go as big as you can now.
