My neighbour had a snapping turtle lay eggs in his garden. He hauled it down to the swamp in a wagon..

Any idea what the gestation period is for snapping turtle eggs???

Dont know if this will help, but I just saw a thing on Discovery channel today about the Mississippi and snapping turtles were mentioned and they said the eggs hatched in August.

I just wonder how he moved them. If they are turned at all I don't think they'll be viable.

If they're there and you want to try to hatch them, put a piece of wire (I used a wire basket) over the nest to keep out predators. Then let nature take it's course (but keep an eye on the wire in case something digs it up). (And you want to be able to let them out if they do hatch.) Hatching usually occurs between 80-90 days.

They're awfully cute when they're hatchlings. Please don't let your neighbor destroy them...
