Hello. My name is Dennise. I used to be a memeber, but I've not logged in for a VERY long time. My turtles are about 3-4 years old. I was was wondering if their shells lose their bright color as they get older? My turtles' shells aren't as bright green as they used to be. I wonder if they are sick. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I've seen pictures of RES that were a wonderful bright green when they were little and turned a very dark green once they were older. It is normal for their color to darken.

Yes, they start off grass green and turn a dark olive, with yellowish streaks, as they mature.

They do darken as they age. Not all have yellow streaks, though.
