How can you tell how old your RES is?

Unless you know when it was born, there is no real way to tell. You can guestimate by size but it ins't accurate. Grow depends on genetics, amount of food being fed, environment, etc. For keepers it's recommended to aim for about an inch a year growth. Some turtles just grow more or less. So, you can look at the size of the turt and make a judgement, but that is about as close as you will get.

There are a lot of strange myths out there about how to tell the age of your turtle. I only wish there was a good way to tell.

how big when they are hatched? one inch?

somewhere around there... maybe a bit smaller or larger, size is genetic also..
