Today my turtle pooped while I was out at the pond and his stool was a)huge (not a problem, I am sure) and b)very pale in color. I've never seen it so pale before. Could this be a sign of a problem?

I found today that he had been eating something he shouldn't; I have some taro growing in the pond filter, and it was sending out runners. The runners did not reach to the level of the water, so I thought they were okay (I cut them off periodically and give them away/plant them elsewhere). Today I looked out the window and saw him raising himself straight up out of the water to bite the end off of one! "no, no, don't eat that!" I shouted out the window and he swam away, heh.

Raw taro is high in oxalates and not safe to eat. I instantly pulled off all the runners and will be trimming them back more frequently now. BUt could that be causing the pale stool?

He eats various brands of pellets and lots of fresh veggies and water plants. Also snails, worms, etc that I find and toss into his pond.

The stool color can change based on what the turtle eats. On the days Tanner gets veggies only, his stool is much lighter than the other days. Monitor your turtle's poop during the next couple of days to see if the color changes.

My RES's poop is sometimes quite pale, and this is usually when he hasn't be getting much in the way of pellets.
