I have a friend with 2 baby RES that I will be watching for a week for them when they go on vacation. I have two adult RES of my own in a 75 gallon tank. I was wondering if it would be okay to put the babys in with my turtles. I don't know if my turtles would hurt them or if they would be okay. If anyone has any experience with this please get back to me. They are bringing their own tank with them but it would be easier to put them in with mine because of the basking and lighting situation, but I don't want anything to happen to them.

There are a few reasons not to put them together with yours. Her turts could have illness/parasites that could pass to yours, if there is that much of a difference in size yours could easily kill/injure hers. They'll be 'nervous' enough about the move to possibly stop eating even if you keep them separate. Just don't risk it.

Don't put the babies in with the adults. The adult turtles will pick at the little ones (and possibly hurt them!). Not to mention, 2 adults + 2 babies in a 75 gal tank is too crowded.

The owner of the turtles you'll be sitting for should provide you with a complete set-up for them (if you're not going to be stopping in to check on them). That's what I've done whenever I had to leave turtles with someone for any length of time. Aside from the potential hazards mentioned above, they'll do much better in surroundings that they know.

Thanks for all the replys. I kind of thought it was a bad idea but I wasn't completly sure. I will just keep them in the set up that they are being droped off in. Thanks again to everyone who replied.
