is it normal for a turtle to sometimes rub it's eyes and face when it comes out of the water to bask? sometimes under water? It's rare and doesn't happen often but I wondered if anyone else noticed their turtles doing this or if it meant anything?

Is your turtle shedding? If it has loose skin on its face it could be trying to get it off.

yea he's still a little guy- he sheds fairly often so I turned down the tank temp to 78 but I've been having troubles with the weather recently because it's been up and down and the apartment gets really hot when it's hot and sunny outside so I'm hoping it'll stay cooler here soon so that the heater can do it's magic and keep the temp at 78!!

Mine both rub their faces, and they are shedding. I also have issus with temp fluctuation because of weather.

My RES rubs his face sometimes when he's basking, and he's not shedding. I think he does it when he's getting a little warm and his skin and eyes are getting a little too dry.
