Well, I started posting here because my 15 year old son moved out without his turtles and I was left looking after them. I learned so much on this site that I bought a new, larger tank, bigger filter and new heater. I have cuttle bone in the tank, more water than before, a better dock, and better quality food. I have tried live food as well. These turtles are so happy now and the set up is so nice that when my son was visiting he was really impressed. It was only a matter of a week plus a few other things happening that he finally decided to come back home after being gone almost 3 months. I think the turtles had a lot to do with it. I am really thankful to all of you for answering so many peoples questions that I was able to learn so much here. I know that these turtles mean a lot to my family in that they have been a bonding experience for my troubled son. I think it is important that he has something to care for and be responsible for and I will make sure that the turtles remain properly cared for. So I want to thank each of you for your contributions to this site as it has made a world of difference to my family. Happy New Year

You don't have to thank us! My satisfaction for helping people comes from knowing that the turtles will be well taken care of. It's great that your son is back in an environment that's safe and healthy. I'm 15 also and the turtles always are a discussion starter and way to spend time with others in my family.
Happy new year to you and I hope your son and you continue to be happy together!

Much of the kudos goes to you for taking the time to find out what your turtle needed. I'm glad to hear things are turning around for the better for your family.
