what can take calcium off a tank?

If the tank is really nasty, you might want to clean it first and then disinfect it with a bleach and water solution. I've disinfected tanks by using two ounces of bleach to a gallon of water. Rinse well (multiple times) and let it air dry 24 hours/overnight. I've never had a problem doing this.
