I run several Whisper over the side ones and they seem to work pretty well. Still love my fluval 4 plus though. For shallow water, like for the baby musk, mud, and malayan boxie I use the stingray submersible....cheap filter but works good for them as it doesn't put out a ton of waves. What type of turtle?

I wouldn't recommend any of the internal filters from Walmart, they're not strong enough.

I have a RES about 2 1/2 inches. I also want to put some plants, can i use the same ones for fish tanks?

copy and paste to look at my current setup.

yep.... if they are good enough for fish, they are ok for your turtle :)

Flash is soo dam cute. He looks pretty happy there in that tank. Those rocks are bigger than him. How big is he actually? I miss when Norman was that small. I would put more water in there if u can fit it, he would like it a lot.

Back 2 your situation tho. Im sure you will find something at walmart, they carry whisper and aquaclear stuff, maybe even more.
Just remember tho,,,turtles are dirty fellaz so try and get a filter that is atleast 3 times the size of your tank.
So for instance if Flash is in a 10 gallon tank...get a filter made for a 30 or 40 gallon tank. It will keep the tank pretty clear of debris (scutes, shed, fecal matter, food particles etc)

Goodluck on ur hunt. =)

I've heard decent things about Whisper filters (which I know Walmart carries), but only for small turtles.
