Slider biting other slider

Hello everyone,

I have two red ear sliders that live in a 20 gallon tank (about 10 gallons of water and basking area). They are about 7 months old. The smaller of the two spends most of the day chasing the big one around and biting at its back feet. There is already some scarring. It seems like the behavior is non stop. Is there any way to fix this problem other than getting another tank?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wait, 7 month turtles in a 10 gallons of water tank? Can you tell me their sizes please?

You can try adding some extra space and some additional hiding spots, but there is no way of knowing for sure if that will solve the problem. If this has been going on for awhile, then you may have no choice but to separate them permanently. Try reading these recent threads.

Hi,
Do you a male and famale ? The male has long nails.
I had to seperate my turtles, they were older than 7 months.
I would never put them back together. The male just torments the famale, I think you need a number of famale to keep one male happy.
I wonder how this mating stuff works in the wild. Do the famale and male live in group ? We think the get lonely but do they ????

In a quick answer, no. They don't need a tank buddy.
