I know that many of you on here tank your turtle out of the tank when you feed them because it keeps the tank cleaner. I was wondering, what do you put your turtle in to feed it?

You can just use a dishpan with shallow water. Ideally you'd use the water from the tank so it's the same temperature.

Personally, I don't feed out of the tank unless it's a food that's particularly messy (berries, banana). My res won't poop soon after eating like some do so for me it doesn't help the water quality at all.

I've used a light-colored dishpan. I used to feed out of the tank all the time, but when I got more turtles, it began to take up too much time so I began doing it when I fed foods that break apart easily. Now I feed "messy" foods a day before or on the day I'm going to clean the tank, so it doesn't make much difference if the water gets a bit dirtier. :)

Hello
I am using a clear plastic storage tote about 3 gallons and fill it up enough to cover her so she can swim, I have feed Myah 2 times out side of her tank, It seems to be working fine and Myah is a messy eater so hopefully it will help with tank cleaning. She ate right away as soon as I put her pellets in. Good luck to you.

I use a 4L square plastic container, and leave it floating in the tank. When he's done eating he pushes on the side and tilts it and climbs out leaving the yuck water in the container

We have a small tank that sits next to their normal tank and just will it up with a little water daily and check the temp to make sure it is about the same as that in the tank. Our turtles are still young so they rip the pellets apart and make a mess. We can also make sure that everyone is eating that way.
