Is my RES doing well?

I want to know if my RES is doing well. Nothing is wrong with my RES that I see. As soon as I wake up I feed him and I turn on the light. I don't see him do much while I'm hear, even bask. But yesterday I came home early and saw him basking. Even tough I fed him before he comes up at the class and begs for more food. And the rest of the time is spent either swimming around or at the edge of the basking area where it meets with the water. I turn off the light after a couple hours afer coming home. I'm usually away at school for 7 hours but I leave the light on for him 11 hours so it could be like his daylight. I can't put him near the window. I clean the mess out his tank and cover the sides so no light gets in, he either falls asleep or sits there with his eyes open then falls asleep. Please correct anything I'm doing wrong and tell me if my RES seems to be doing well.

He doesn't sound like he's got a problem to me.
But if you want to know if he's got everything he needs, you could start by describing your set-up for him and what you're feeding him.

I feed him turtle pellets mostly the multi colored ones, with maybe one or two floating ones. I have a water filter and heater for him, and a basking area.

You need to be more specific, such as tank size, water and basking area temps, what lights you use (UVB and heat), for example. What brand pellets are you feeding him--Hikari? All the pellets I know of float, at least for a while.

Oh sorry water temperature is 82 and basking temperature is 90 he's in a 10 gallon tank. I use a UVA bulb. I'm feeding him two kinds of pellets one says floating pellets sorry (I'm new to taking care of RES.). The pellets I mostly feed him are HBH turtle bites. Those are the multi colored ones. And the other kind is the kind of flat round pellet which he seems to like more and it's brown, it's called Nutrafin Basix Pellets.

It does sound like your setup could use a few upgrades. Here is some general startup info:
