Overdoing it?

So after having my turtles swim in dirty water because of a 10 gallon filter was in a 10 gal tank, I just went out today and bought a new filter to go with the 35 I just bought.
Thing was though, a 60 gal was on sale for 30$. How could I refuse?
So there is now a 60 gal filter, a 35 gal filter, and a 10 gal filter on the 20 gal tank I just got them. I don't have any other tanks and I still have changes for the smaller filters, so why not?
Overkill, or not? The water is a little cloudy but thats because there is algae for the 2 algae eaters I have in the tank with them.

You really need a bigger tank, because it doesnt sound big enough for your turs. How many turtles do you have? how many inches are they? If you have two turtles, and they are both 1 inch, its fine but not for long. But you need 10 gallons per inch per turt. Do you have proper lighting/basking area?

yea everything is fine for them now. They are both about 2 inches, but I am in the process of saving up for a new tank now. But yes, there is a proper basking area, food filtration ect is all what I read here.

I don't think it's overkill. They'll just have REALLY clean water

it's not overkill but you may want to do some current-testing before you add the turtles. if the current's too strong they're going to have trouble swimming and that will cause more harm than good.
at my petco a 55 gallon tank is $119 and at my petsmart a 79 gallon tank is $199. with 8.25% sales tax you're looking at approx $128.82/$215.42 so if you're taxes and prices in your area are like in my area that should give you an idea of what you'll need to save up

there's still the matter of the heater...
oy, i sorry, when people start talking about saving up i turn into a money nerd =Þ

Haha! I'm like that too, when I was planning for Hercules I made this whole spreadsheet on my computer with price comparisons from all the different websites and figured out how to get the best deal on shipping by ordering different stuff from different places. I found the worksheet on this site very helpful though, in that it gives you a list of everything you'll need and helps you total it up.

There's rarely overkill when it comes to filtration for turtles.
