so i am almost out of my hibiclense bottle which was reccomended to treat shell rot. another site

which one should i use?

The active ingredient in both products is a form of chlorohexidine (Hibiclens contains chlorohexidine gluconate and Nolvasan contains chlorohexidine acetate, I believe). Hibiclens is 4% strength and needs to be diluted, Nolvasan, if it's 2% strength, does not.

This is to continue to treat shell rot? How effective was the Hibiclens, if you've used almost a whole bottle on the shell?

If it's to treat the shell, I'd get the skin and wound cleanser in the first link. It sounds similar to the Nolvasan I use (bought from a vet).

ok thanks. the hibiclens seems ton prevent it (shell rot) from spredding, and i have not really used the whole bottle, its just that when i dilute it, i end up pouring the solution that i didnt use out.

the only problem with useing it tho is the its hard to tell f it is really effective because i dont know if it is killing anything that is underneath the scutes (brownish in color). that is really hard to get to when the scute isnt quite ready to come off yet.

i think i am going to buy the hibiclens again because it is cheaper and i wont have to pay shipping. plus its pretty much the same thing.

Can you post a pic of the shell dry (I looked at your old posts and didn't notice any posted before)? If the scutes are brownish in color, what does it look like underneath them? Or, are you saying that under the scutes it looks brown? In any case, a picture of the shell dry would be helpful...

I think pics would also be great for reference for the others using this treatment!
