apparantly the video i posted in the locked ''water depth" thread caused some stirring and i just wanted to come out and say i'm sorry :( i only watched a couple of seconds of the video, turned it off a couple seconds after the little one escaped so if there was something bad in there i am very very sorry :( next time i'll watch all the way through.

No apology needed, Kellee. No harm done. :)

those habitats are ok for hatchlings, but that turtle is the size of mine, so its too narrow and small for the turtle.

anyway, no harm done either.

Those habitats arent suitable for any turtle of any size, they are called "death bowls" by turtle keepers.. :?

And yeah, its alright pumpkin :)

It's ok pumpkin! Actually, I don't watch the videos as a rule, but I did watch the first one and then posted a comment on youtube as a caution to any future viewers that might stumble across it that the habitat being shown wasn't right. You were just sharing something with your friends that you thought was alarming.

Damn, I never knew these little guys could climb so well until I watched that video. Maybe my new turtle did walk 1 mile and then climbed up my 7 foot wooden fence in order to find his way into my pool's skimmer?

On a related note, i was out fishing in PA today when i got a call from my frantic roommate, saying "oh my god Adrienne why did you leave your turtle in the kitchen?!?" and i'm all like "huh?" Turns out little Turtley got in into his head to escape and climbed right out of his tank. There's about 5 inches of tank wall above the water line, but i can see how he could have climbed out using his basking ramp or by standing on the water pump. Either way though, he would have had to do some serious climbing! It looks like he's totally fine, the tank is on a low table so the drop wasn't too far, and he would have fallen onto carpet, but still, what a scare! So now i'm in the process of reevaluating his tank setup. I'm just glad he's okay.

That's cool you like to go fishing! Do you actually go on your own or were you going fishing with your boyfriend? The reason I ask is 'cause I've never met a girl who actually liked to go fishing. I think that's great! :D

I was fishing with my boyfriend, he got me into but i really enjoy it. I work at a marina so when i'm not busy at work i do a little bit of fishing around the docks. I love being outside, and fishing is another great excuse to go running around in the woods and get close to nature :D

yea, I love getting outdoors in the woods and around water. Especially this time of year, you can sometimes see some interesting activity while fishing. A lot of animals are doing their mating thing in spring. :D

Oh man, you should have seen the carp, they were huge and there were clusters of 3 or 4 fish at a time just writhing all over each other and splashing around in the really shallow reedy areas, it was crazy. I think the fishing was a little slow because of all the mating activity :(

That's a bummer the fishing wasn't good. I used to shoot archery when i was a young teen and would bowfish for carp and sucker fish. It was pretty challenging because of the refraction of light in the water. You had to aim below the fish in order to hit them. They were actually very good eating too.

I just saw it locked, but there is no need to apologize. It's highly unfortunate that these things happen, but these videos basically confirm what we already know -- and these aren't the worse ones out there. It's heartbreaking that these and other animals have to suffer. It's incredible that the parents are sometimes worse than their kids... but I'm not going to rant about it

Just so you know the video was deleted from YouTube for violations! At least one site is working to make things better.
