my turtles shell has some small white spots on it. when i touch them it feels like maybe its pitting. could it just be the scutes starting to shed from the middle or something?

also, the other day, i came home and she was basking. it looked like her mouth had something black on it on the outside. it went away after she was in the water for a while, but now her "lips" look red. im not sure if she was like this before, but it doesnt seem normal. any ideas?

Do the spots look like this?

Maybe she was eating something and it stained her mouth...

Could you provide photos? that would help a lot.

Can you see any pitting?

No one can give you any suggestions as to what it could be without some pics of the areas you're concerned about. (Pics that show the shell and your turtle's face when they're dry.)

The scute you're showing in the pic up there looks like shedding.

Have you fed her carrots? That stains the mouth
