If my turtle has a course screen tank cover, what lightening is needed for basking, etc? Right now he has a 13 watt 10.0 fluorescent lamp directly over his basking area. I also have a T5 uvb 24 watt 10.0 uvb lamp positioned to cover the rest of the tank. All suggestions welcomed.

You'll also need to provide heat over the basking area and an incandescent bulb would work. You don't need any specialty lighting over the other parts of the tank.

Thanks for the suggestion. He does have a 30 watt lamp over his basking area. It keeps the platform at around 95f. I've had a lot of issues with his tank lately after relocating. I'm learning about things I never imagined. So glad I found this forum.

What kind of lamp is that 30 watt you're using? Glad we can still help!

I have dual chamber picture by zoo med that houses a fluorescent bulb and the heat lamp. Then I have a 24 inch LT5, 10.0 uvb lamp that runs over the tank where the zoo med fixture. Does not shine. Both sit on a wire mesh tank topper. I guess about 50% of the light is filtered out.

Since some of the light is filtered, you'd want to make sure that the pellets he gets contain Vitamin D3. You can also change the topper material, though that will require a bit of creativity.
