Bricks for Basking Spot

I noticed a couple of ppl had bricks in their turtle's tank with a basking platform on top of it. I was wondering if it would be safe to add two bricks in the tank stacked on each other for an alternate basking spot. It wouldn't contaminate the water would it? If you think this is a stupid idea just say so and I'll try and get one of those log platforms.

Plz respond soon, thank you.

A little patience would be good here...Kindly do not bump your posts to get them noticed. It's a Saturday, and not as many people are around this time of day.

As for using the bricks for an "alternate" basking area, if your turtle already has a decent one, he shouldn't need another. And bricks are abrasive (someone recently posted a picture of their turtle's plastron that had been scraped by using them). I would avoid them and find a material that's less abrasive. Even if you had a basking platform on top of them, they'd still be taking up swimming room in the tank. Bricks have also been known to leach arsenic. A basking area that's chemically safe and one that would allow for swimming under it would really be better.

i definitely would stay away from bricks. i posted a thread about it awhile ago cause my res's plastron had small red dots on it. the bricks were only for my outside kiddie pool, and i've switched to river rocks. also, bricks are porous and i've been noticing that they've been slowly disintegrating in the water and it leaves little piles of brick dust. not good!

I changed the bricks for a rock and took off the black thing and cups from the turtle dock and put it under it.
