For those of whom have stock tanks, how did you hook up the dock and filter? I bought a fifty gallon stock tank, and a need ideas on what would work the best for this situation. I plan to try and use Donatello's old Zoo Med dock for the new setup for my new babies. What filter I get depends upon the answers you guys give me. I plan on buying the filter, a couple of UVB bulbs, some plants and heater tomorrow night, so quick answers will be greatly appreciated!

I don't have a stock tank and I barely read the stock tank threads, but I have an idea...lol

Maybe you have one of those plastic stools that you can place in the water and then place/stick the zoomed dock to the top of it so it will stay in place? Or you can use some other thing to attach to the bottom so it doesn't float around...

Maybe you can get a BIG piece of corkbark!

I've seen people do that with the stool, I think it's a great idea! Another thing I've seen is at this garden center near my house, they had a couple turtles in a stock tank. I'm not sure if yours is quite the same, but theirs had sort of ridges that came in a little on either side of the inner walls, and they were able to just cut a board to size and lay it so that it rested on those ridges, right at water level. You'd have to make sure it wasn't treated with chemicals or anything but it seemed like a simple solution.

If I used a stool for the basking area, how would I connect the lights? Yes there is a small platform type thing on the sides, but it's a ways down, and the water will need to be much higher than that. By the way, the reason I need these suggestions so quickly is because the turtles will be here Wed., and everything has to be set up beforehand (obviously). The breeder only had one CGT left and not very many WP's either, and I wanted to make sure I got them before he sold them to someone else. He's only going to hold them a week, but my paycheck wasn't in the bank until midnight last night, so I didn't have the money for everything before it was deposited. I have to order the stuff soon (tonight) so it will be here by Monday or Tuesday, so I can get everything setup. So that's the reason for the timeline!
Starchick - I've always liked your avatar's - they are very creative. Napoleon and Hercules are one of the major reasons I'm getting a WP!

The side of the stock tank won't accept a clamp? Or will the lamp need to be further away? Check out the brooder lamps at home depot, I got one recently that had a different kind of clamp than I've ever seen, it was super strong and was shaped to sort of reach around a thicker lip on a tank. If you need the lamp higher up, see if one of those zoomed lamp stands would work for you. I think it's zoomed that makes them anyway. If all else fails you could build some kind of frame to hold the lamps where you need them.

I think I figured out the basking area. Now I am waiting for the stuff to arrive so I can set up everything and get it ready for my new babies.
