Do Res need a place out of the water? I'm building a large tank and I have my turtle in a plastic tote and I was wondering if it would be okay to put a lot of water in so he can swin but there no place for him to get out of the water or should I just put in around 4" so he can sit around on the land?

He definately needs a place to get out of the water, and it needs to have a source of heat, most like the basking area around 90f

How long is he going to be in this container? If it's only for a little while he doesn't necessarily need to be able to dry off and bask, but he should have a resting spot where he can get air without swimming. If he's going to be in there for a while you need to figure out a way to give him basking time.
