i recently built a basking area for my slider and when he wants to go back into the water he just 'slides' down the ramp like hes on a turtle olympics diving team

just curious if this is normal or if its going to be harmful to him by doing that.

thanks

What material is your ramp made out of and how far is it above water? Can you post some pictures?

It's made from a Turtle Dock and a small piece of wood at the bottom. I'm taking picture in a little bit, I'll post them ASAP.

It's fine- mine jumps off the edge some times.

Is your turt a slider by any chance? :D I've seen pics or turtles that are not sliders on this site, so I don't assume.

As long as the material of the ramp isn't abrasive, it's okay. Mine does the same, but only if I scare her or if she knows it's feeding time. She just flies off. One time she bumped into the glass.

She's okay, though.

ollie and stewie does that all the time once they see me arrive from work (*feeding time!*). they just fly off the basking spot and beg for food. so i think it's normal.
