I was just recently given two adorable baby RES, not really sure how old they are, I would say at least a year old. Anyhow I am trying to set them up with a good habitat on a low budget. I am interested in any suggestion that anyone can give me. Unfortunatley I am only going to be able to get at most a 30 or 40 gallon tank until we can move. Land lord only will allow that size at most so I will have to make due.

perhaps your landlord would ok 2 tanks of that size? Then they'd have their own space / more room?

How big are the turtles and how long until you are planning on moving out? You can definitely make a 30-40 gallon tank work, esp if you can make an above tank basking area. That will allow for the maximum swimming water and utilize the area above the tank. There are a lot of great examples on the forums, so check them out.

I have a 30 gallon tank that holds 1-4 year old RES's. Two of them.

I found my 55 gal tank with heater and filter included at a super-Walmart for $150.
