75 W should be fine for a 10 gallon tank. 50 W would probably cut it unless it was a pretty cold room.

Get a bigger tank, you will thank us.

For 10 gallons, a 50W heater can increase the water temperature up to 18 F above room temperature.

i would get a bigger tank but thats the last thing i need to worry about right now..lol...by the way what if the heater is a higher W. would it burn the turtle?

No, it should shut off at it's shut-off point. And even when those heaters are on, you can touch them and they are only warm to the touch. More watts just means it can handle more, but if you look at the prices of heaters, they differ by a matter of dollars for upping the wattage. I doubt you should be like a 200W heater in there, but a 75W instead of a 50W won't matter.
