Yesterday when changing my turtles water in his aquarium it cracked from top to bottom so i know if i put more water in there will be a huge problem! So dose any one have any cheep ideas for a five inch almost 6inch turtle that is temporary and cheep. (I dont think its fair for my other smaller turtle to have to down size so my larger one has a place to stay!)

you could try a big rubbermade till you get a new tank

ive heard stories about rubbermades are they really that effecient ? Do you just set it up like a regular aquarium filter and all?

as far as i know you just set it up like you would and aquarium. just transfer the stuff you use in your tank to the tub.

You could possibly remedy the crack using aquarium silicon from the hardware/pet store. You know the stuff that's in the four corners? That's just aquarium silicon. You could try filling in the crack and seeing if you can fix it. The tank should be as dry as you can get it. There are lots of people on google that make their own tanks or fix tanks that are damaged.

Could you post pictures to see if it's even worth fixing?

he needs a new tank soon anyways but the crack was huge on the left side from underneath the tank all the way up to the top and it made the glass kind of loose. yea ive used the tank sealing stuff before it works great for tanks that are not water proof to make them water proof but i think i will just get him a new one i dont feel safe letting him stay in that one !

Good call, that tank isn't suitable to hold water anymore. A clear Rubbermaid or Sterlite container should be able to hold water (only about half-filled) temporarily until you can get a new tank.

yea im going to go get one asap and rig his older filter to fit it! it should all work out ok Then i can save it for another emergency or if i ever move or some one ever has to watch the turtles.

sure i would like to see it i need ideas how to set it up ? and to see how well they actualy hold up .

I used a rubbermaid for about 5-6 months for one of my turtles. It held up perfectly well- I filled it up about halfway and had my regular filter/ heater in it. I think they make wonderful temporary homes. Just be sure to check them for signs of wear and tear so you don't have a large leak. I found a nice 30 gallon green one for $6 after a christmas clearance sale, so hopefully you can find a good one too.

Its a 50 gallon, i think it was like 18 bucks at lowes.
