Hey gals and guys,

I have a 500 gal tank, which is 4'x2-1/2'x 2'. I use a ZOO-MED 100W Power Sun bulb for heat and uv rays on top of a large ZOO-MED turtle dock. The large dock is well adequate for his size, 4" in diameter. The water quality is kept in check by a Fluval FX5 Canister system; top tray is pre filter with water polishing pads on top, middle tray is zeo-carb, and bottom tray is biomax. It is heated by a hager 200w heater. The tank is filled half way up which is about 250 gals of water to heat and filter. I have some water plants that float on the top and provides a layer of shelter so he can hide when need be. The plants are plastic since his tank is a bare bottom(easier maintenance). I use a Python siphon system for maintenance. I don't have a cover for the tank due to our humidity levels down here, it stays around 85-90 percent. It is always wet here, in central america. The ambient air temp is 70-75 degrees, water temp is 76 degress and basking temp is 90 degrees. I've had this turtle for a year now. He was the size of a quarter when I got him, maybe a month old. I have pics of the setup and turtle( Coca is his name), I will transfer to comp and load in a week or so. Thanks for reading.

4", he is a 1 yr old male. So this will last him his whole life. My only problem is I leave Central America in a yr and I don't think I will beable to take him with me back to the states. If anyone knows any info on this subject, please let me know, thanks.

You mean 500 litres? 4'x2.5'x2' is about 150 US gallons, but just over 500 litres

As for bringing him with you, I think you'll have to check out US immigration laws. I know some people have gone from US to Canada, or Canada to US, so hopefully some of them can help you out.

yeah, I will look more into it as the time gets closer, I still have over a yr left down here
