I think it's a strange kind of algae or something? They are only under the glow life bulb.

I got curious and searched good ol' Google and found out this:

It's actually insect and related to bloodworms

I don't have that in my tank, but green algae definitely.

Maybe put peat moss on your basking dock. It gets rid of flies, typically.

Any possibility of a picture?

Are they brown or green spots on rocks and glass? Or is it literally an insect?

It doesn't move or anything. I'm just assuming its round strands of algae? Also it was only growing under the Glo-Life bulb.

Okay, it's either a type of algae, or a bunch of dead insects. I'm tempted to go with algae.

My best guess is to clean your tank really well.

Anyone ever had Chironomid in their tank?
