Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to lower nitrate levels. Every other level PH, Nitrite and Amonia are all normal but I can't seem to lower the nitrate levels even with continuous water changes.

The one thing I am not sure of and should test is if my water has high nitrate to begin with. With that aside any tips to get that nitrate level down. Can I mix distilled water with the tap water to try to lower or is there something I can add to the tank water.

Levels are between 40 to 80 which is concerning but PH is 7.4 Amonian and Nitrates are at 0.

I have a fluval 407 filter and it is maintained regularly.

Thanks so much, glad to have others with experience helping us newbies out.

Have you tested your tap water? Are you having any algae problems? I would look into feeding her less and out of the tank (if you have time for it).
