Okay so I got my turtle yesterday on June 3, 2006! I named her shelly. Well we checked many stores but we couldn't find ANY good rocks for her! So we just piled up a lot of gravel to one side but thats not good enough because the water can't be too high. So were did you guys get your rocks for them to bask on

Let me ask first off why the water can't be too high? RES are aquatic turtles and need room to swim.
Second of all, most petstores sell large pieces of rock for different types of set ups. It won't necessarily be called a basking rock. You can also go outside and collect rocks as long as you have permission from the landowner. Be sure that your rocks get a good cleaning before putting them in your set up, or it will make your set up messy.
That being said, a lot of people prefer going with basking areas that float because it allows for optimum swimming area. Another thing to consider is that stacked rocks may tumble and could hurt your turtle. For other options take a look in the photo gallery.
Welcome to the forum! Get some pics up, lol!

And if the the gravel is too small the turtles can and will swallow the rocks if they can fit them in their mouth. If they are small enough for that to happen you should remove them.
