so i went to petco today and i found an amazing deal on a 50 watt water heater, its a "thermo aquariam water heater" and it was only 5 bucks.i bought it but i dont even know if its on, i waited 15 minutes before plugging it in (following instructions) but the light indicator that says ON doesnt light up...and the instructions says its supposed to when heating up..

my tank has stayed at a steady 78 degrees and my turtles have been realy active and swimming like crazy an hour after i adjusted the heater in the tank.

i havent seen the light indicator light up AT ALL!, but my tank usually doesnt stay at a steady temperature for that amount of time even when the AC is off.

sorry but im realy confused, someone show me the ropes? :x :x :x

As long as the water temp is keeping steady, then no worries... It might cycle on and off when you're not looking...

And that's an excelent deal on the heater! :D

yeah i know,todays been a good day!

i visited the vet as well and turns out my turtle isnt sick with septicemia like i thought.he said something about the shrimp i was feeding them he said he had a bad reaction to it, so i threw it away and bought some cuttlebone instead (as suggested by the vet)

I've learned to be a bit cautious about really great deals (not that they don't exist). Last year I found two aquarium heaters that originally retailed for $35.00 each at Petco in Petco's clearance section for $8 each, which I bought. The indicator light on one never really worked (like yours) and the other one worked fitfully. They got very little use last winter. When I went to try them a week ago, neither of them worked.

Good to hear your turtle isn't ill. Some food like shrimp will tinge the shell pink. It was good that you cared enough to have your turtle checked out, though. :)

thanks!
i know me too, im so glad.

the vet visit wasnt that expensive like i thought it would be it all came out to 100$ and the vet told me next visit is 5 dollars off and so on and so on. first visit is 35 dollars.so in the near future i wont even have to pay for the visit, just the medications and other needs.

yeah i know,im still thinking of buying a much better heater for my turtles but i guess this has to do for now,i know it works because its keeping the temps up and the weather dropped to 60 degrees last night..and the light stays on for about a minute and then turns off.
