On the sceneries that go on the back on the tanks, do they stick on or do you have to tape them on. What kind of fake plants can I use, plastic or silk.

The backgrounds will need to be taped on. You can use something like double sided tape and it will be neater..
What kind of bakground are you going to get? I have to set my alarm and go look today for some.

You can use plastic or silk plants. You need to watch for small pieces that may fall off, or be chewed off. The plastic kind can be easier to clean if they get covered in algae. A lot of different aquarium shops sell plants that are weighted on the bottom, I find those very easy to use. This is mostly because my turtles like to redecorate.

i was looking today in my tank, and it seems the turtles have made a little "planter" for one of the plants by aranging some rocks around it. How nice of them... I need to figure out how to clamp them down better, does anyone sugest zip ties?? or any other ideas?

Do you mean plastic zip ties? Those should be OK.
