I just wanted to share a few pics with you all.

I picked up a different tank set-up for Pokey, the 2" turt. 40gal. tank, stand, light, Aqua Clear 110, extra heater & Pictus Catfish for $100 on Craigs List. Not to bad, I'm happy with it.

The Aqua Clear 110 seems like its gonna work out good with the 40gal tank. Its set with the sponge filter, carbon in the middle, and ceramic bio-media on top.

Here is the previous tub set up, http://www.azcentral.com/community/ahwatukee/articles/0214ar-waterline0214Z14.html

This is the new

How lovely! I love the colors. Pokey's a lucky little guy/girl.

Nice pics. I have an Aquaclear 110 in a 40-gallon stock tank, and it does a good job of keeping the water clear. :)

Beuatiful! Hey, I have an aquaclear 110 on a 55 gallon tank. Supposed to be good up to 110 gallons but... I feel like it misses a LOT of "stuff." Marisa and Pokey, do you think I need a stronger filter?

The 110-gallon tank is a fish tank, not a tank of turtles (which need a filter around 3X the size of the tank it's rated for (remember, most filters are for fish tanks).

Filters aren't meant to pick up stuff off the floor of the tank, they're supposed to filter the water. But, what might help is to extend the intake tube to the bottom of the tank. Personally, I feel that the intake doesn't go down far enough in Aquaclears (especially if the Aquaclear is the only filter in the tank) when they're used for turtles. I've extended the intake in every Aquaclear I've used (and I have 4 of them). If you extend the intake and you still don't feel it's doing a good job, you might want to get a stronger filter (like a good canister).

Hmm. Sounds like I'll be extending--too po' for a good canister now. Thanks!!
