hello all---i rescued a baby turtle and have it in a 10 gal. tank---my question how far can i fill the tank and if i feel the tank to almost the top will the turtle get out? i do not have a cover on the top of the tank---donna

Fill the tank as much as you can without the possibility of escape over the top. If in doubt, go a little low, they are expert escape artists.

You are also going to want to invest in something larger than a 10 gallon tank. If it isn't too small already, it will be soon.

More importantly, you need some sort of basking platform, otherwise ten gallons of water won't be too helpful for the turtle.

i have a floating basking platform which has suction cups to hold it on the glass of the tank---that's why i wonder if i feel the tank with to much water i guess from what you turtle experts are saying is they know how to escape---

Just fill it up until about four inches from the top if your turtle is only a baby.

If you have the water deeper, have some floating plastic plants in addition to the basking area so your turtle can rest on them.
