Ever since I got the UVB bulb (i thought the full spectrum I had was actually full spectrum, but finally got an actual UVB bulb recently) it seems like my turtles have been basking less... are they just not used to it? or maybe I'm imagining it. It's 10" away, I got the Repti-Glo 5.0 compact

I've heard that they'll burn brighter for the first week or two...maybe the turts need to get used to it. I've never used those myself but that'd be my guess

Do you still have a heat lamp? If its a fluorescent bulb, you'd want to have a light that emits a warmer light to balance it out. A household type of lamp would work in the case.

Then I would agree with your original assessment that they are getting used to it. Since it is new, you might want to keep it a bit further away as it does have a burn-in period.
