i've had a hatchling for about 2 months now. recently, maybe for a month i've been feeding him a few pieces of krill, and 2 pellets everyday. and some days i would feed him freezedried bloodworms with 2 pellets. this week i fed him live bloodworms and live krill, but after reading about pryamiding and such, i think i'm gonan cut back on the protein a lot. im noticing tiny little white raised bumps on his scutes, but when i looked at pictures when i first got him, he's had them at birth, so i think its part of his shell. i've rarely fed wilton veggies, and when i have i left the anachris in the tank and it was mutilated a week after. i have fed him a rare occasion of a piece of a watermelon. maybe ill buy some lettuce tomorrow and feed it with the pills instead of protein sources. hopefully he wont form and permanent signs of damage. im thinking romaine lettuce/greeny lettuce with 2 pills a day should be fine? any input would be nice. thakns

Hatchlings should be fed
A protien source every 2 weeks
I suggest you give him
Pellets one day
Next day all veggies
Alternate like that
And on a weekend day
Give him the blood worm or whatever other protien source you have

This should balance out his diet
And try to vary the veggies

hey Ninjaturtles.....sounds like you are a caring owner who wants to do the best for your little baby!!! Good for you. I'm glad you are willing to learn about how to feed him. Don't worry....2 months of non-varied feeding won't hurt him. The good thing is that he has been eating/mutilating the anacharis. It makes a mess, but they love it & it has lots of nutrients that are good for them!

Read the link Steve posted. This website has great lists of what to feed.

I have babies too. I feed them pellets once a day (as much as would fill there head cavity if it were hallow without neck) and veggies every day (romain, carrots, arugala). and i give them a little dried krill or shrimp once a week or so as a snack. I tossed some mennows in the tank too, not so much for food but i thought they would have fun chasing them... and they do...but i know one day ill look and the fish will be gone. :)

read up in the Feeding & Nutrition section of this site. you should find most of your anwsers there.
I guess I was over feeding my guys a bit untill the folks on this site got me on the right track.
