Was reading the nutrition guide, bought romaine lettuce today by accident, thought it was the staple but its actually green leaf lettuce... but then I thought that was the same thing... isnt it???

It doesn't really matter. They are both great for your turtle. I have green lettuce for my turtles right now. You can just switch between different kinds of lettuces every once in a while to give your turtle a variety.

There's something in the romaine that isn't good for your turtle. Feeding some romaine occasionally is fine but you don't want to make it a staple. Red and green leaf lettuce, on the other hand, you can feed every day. And like emmanelson said, variety is good.

wow, I never noticed that before! I always thought they were the same... I guess I won't be giving my turtles as much romaine now..

Romaine leaves are flatter while leaf lettuce leaves have curley edges. Romaine is slightly bitter while leaf lettuce is sweetish. Both make great salads!

Lettuce (either red or green leaf or Romaine) is OK, but if you want to feed your turtles a leafy green that's really good for them, try getting some dandelion leaves (larger supermarkets often have them in produce, next to the kale and mustard greens).
